“PARTNERS”
What examples come to mind when you think of the word – “partners”? Maybe you think of “Batman and Robin” or possibly “the Lone Ranger and Tonto”. For me, some phrases that come to mind which describe the “partner” relationship are mutual support, clear communication, and unity of purpose.
Based on the previous descriptions, let me suggest an example for partners that you maybe didn’t think of – school parents and Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. In order to be truly productive in the education of children, the parents, the church, and the school must be supportive of each other. In addition, clear communication between parents and Redeemer can only enhance the spiritual and educational growth of the students. Also, having a unity of purpose between parents and Redeemer allows for the setting and attainment of common goals. Putting all of these together, you can see how students would flourish when this type of relationship exists.
Conversely, you can probably also understand how a “partner relationship” might suffer if there is a lack of support from any side. If effective and constructive communication does not exist, how can partners realistically address problems and concerns? If unity of purpose is not present, how can goals be established and met? In this scenario, who loses? We all do – parents, church, school, and students.
In Romans 15:5-6, God gives us a description for a successful partnership – “May the God Who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the Lord and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
As we (parents, church, and school) daily work together to be supportive of each other, as we clearly communicate with each other, and as we work to develop a spirit of unity, we can be confident that God will bless and direct our efforts as we seek His will. What do you say, partner! |
Open House Thursday (tomorrow) night! |
YOU ARE OUR BEST “PR”!
As a private Christian school, Redeemer is continually seeking ways to communicate to the community who we are and what we are about. Ads in newspapers and magazines, radio spots, and posting information on a website are just a few methods that are used for “public relations” or “PR”.
But as effective as these methods of communication may be, most prospective families find out about Redeemer through our school parents. You are our best “PR”! As “satisfied customers” of Redeemer Lutheran School, your words have a powerful influence on families who may be considering a private, Christian education for their children.
Tomorrow (Thursday) night, February 2, Redeemer Lutheran School will be having an “Open House” for prospective families. The times are from 6 to 8 p.m. Families will be able to tour our facility, meet with teachers, and ask questions about our program. Your words of invitation and encouragement can help to make this event a success. Please take advantage of this opportunity to invite relatives, friends, and neighbors to attend our “Open House”. In addition, for those who are unable to attend that evening, we consider every day to be open house at Redeemer. All families need to do is call in order to arrange a time for a tour, to pick up information, and meet with our Principal – Mr. Boeder.
Remember – your “PR” is very important as we invite others to join the Redeemer Family! |
Did your hear the BUZZZZZZZ? |
The Redeemer Spelling Bee is Coming!
Top spellers from grades 1-8 will participate in our Redeemer School Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 8th, at 9:30 a.m. (after chapel), in the church sanctuary. Parents and other friends are invited to attend as spectators. Please join us for coffee and fellowship in the auditorium until 8:45 a.m. Then we will head up to participate in chapel led by our sixth grade class. Kindergarten parents may want to come to see how the Spelling Bee is run for reference for next year.
There will be first, second, and third place ribbons for the winners in each grade. One of the life lessons we teach at Redeemer is how to win and lose graciously. As in most competitions, there can only be one winner. Help us encourage one another in love.
The first place winner in each grade will be eligible to attend the annual Spelling Contest for Lutheran Elementary Schools which will be held at Mayer Lutheran High School on Saturday, April 14. Should the first place winner not be able to attend, the second place winner will be eligible to attend in their place. Should the first and second place winners not be able to attend, the third place winner will be eligible to attend in their place.
Those representing each level are:
First Grade – Danny L./Brooke M./Jonah S./Sydney S./Lauren S.
Second Grade – Mara B./Jocelyn D./Libby J./Sydney R./Shae S.
Third Grade – Pamela B./Colin B./Jack K./Sean M./Annica S.

The Latest News in Kindergarten
What an exciting week in the Kindergarten room this week. Monday we celebrated the opening day of our very own Kindergarten Post Office! Each day we have a mail deliverer and an opportunity to write letters to others in the classroom. Each student has his/her own mailbox to receive mail from classmates, parents, chapel partners, or anyone else who’d like to drop us a note. You can drop off your letters to us in the mailbox right inside our classroom door. We also are celebrating Makayla Tierney this week…our newest Shining Light! Some of Makayla’s favorite activities are swimming, snuggling, playing in the snow, and eating ice cream. She loves her very own Twin’s book, her bear blanket, and her favorite Twin’s players are Jim Thome and Joe Mauer. But all this pales in comparison to the most important thing about Makayla…she truly is a shining light for her Savior, Jesus! We love having you in our class, Makayla, and we pray that you will always shine for Jesus! We get closer and closer to “day 100”. As you read this, we are on day 95! Watch for day 100 next week! This week we also learned how Jesus blessed the little children. Here’s your challenge of the week…how many people can you be a true blessing to? Just keep Jesus in your heart and it’ll be a lot easier! |

Sonshine Singers Spectacular Coming Soon!!
This year for the first time ever, the Sonshine Singers will be performing a fun and entertaining program on March 11th at 4 p.m. In years past, this time slot was devoted to the Kindergarten Operetta, but this year it will involve all students in grades K thru 3. If you enjoy music, laughing, and praising God, don’t miss this spectacular show. The performance will be followed with a home-cooked spaghetti supper. What a fun time it will be! Watch for more details coming soon! |

Reminder Concerning School Closure Due to Weather |
PLEASE NOTE!
Generally, we follow school cancellations of the Wayzata School District for weather-related closings. If Wayzata Public Schools close, we will close. Previously unannounced cancellations will be announced through the School Reach Phone Broadcast System, as well as through WCCO TV-4. Families will need to watch only one station for this information. THANK YOU! |
