Computer Science

Redeemer recognizes the importance the computer plays in society for communication, for recreation, and for business. The computer curriculum at Redeemer introduces students to the multitude of ways to use the computer, and integrates the computer as part of instruction in the classroom. Students will demonstrate knowledge, skill or ability in these areas:

  • Computer awareness

Language & Spelling

The language and spelling curriculum will enable the student to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Read, understand and communicate God's Word through the power of the Holy Spirit

  • Read, comprehend, evaluate, and use written materials

  •  
  • Listen, envision, and respond critically and analytically

  •  
  • Write standard English in a grammatical, well-organized and coherent manner for a variety of purposes

  • Use spoken language effectively in formal and informal situations to communicate ideas and information and to ask and answer questions

Math

The math curriculum will enable the student to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

Music & Band

Through the music curriculum, the student will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Understand and share the Gospel

  • Provide opportunities for large group performance

Physical Education

The physical education program strives to meet the following goals:

  • Teach the student that man was created to glorify God in his total being and existence

  •  
  • Train him/her that his or her abilities and talents are God-given

  •  
  • Instruct the student to praise God by utilizing his/her abilities and talents to reach their full spiritual, physical and emotional potential

  • Train the child that his/her body is “God’s temple” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17), and therefore the individual should acquire the physical skills and health knowledge necessary to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle

  • Educate the student in the practice and application of Christian teamwork

  • Instruct the child in the individual and team skills necessary to successfully participate in sports and activities

Religion

The religion curriculum will enable students to continue to:

  • Develop and foster a relationship with God as their Creator, Savior and Sanctifier
  •  

  • Grow and nurture the relationships with others – classmates, friends, family members, and those involved in taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth
  •  

  • See the relationship they have in God’s creation and in their daily lives

Science

Through the science curriculum, the student will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skill and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the basic vocabulary of biological, physical, and earth sciences

  • Understand the principles of scientific research and apply them in simple research projects

  • Know the processes, techniques, methods, equipment, and available technology for science

  • Understand the components of a healthy lifestyle

Social Studies

Through the social studies curriculum, the student will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Understand and analyze comparative and economic systems, with an emphasis on the political and economic systems of the United States.

  • Understand and analyze events, trends, personalities, and movements shaping the history of the world, the United States, and Minnesota

  • Portray knowledge of the basic concepts of the social sciences and how these help to interpret human behavior

  • Exhibit knowledge of world geography with an emphasis on that of the United States

  • Apply the skill and knowledge gained in the social sciences to real-life situations

Redeemer Lutheran provides an interactive learning environment, age
app.ropriate curriculum, and role modeling to help nurture children in
their knowledge and relationship with God. To this end, each program and
activity will strive to meet the spiritual, intellectual, physical,
emotional, social and creative aspects of the whole child.

The activities, curriculum and program of Redeemer Lutheran
Preschool/Pre-kindergarten are designed to assist parents in their

Enrollment

Students who are toilet trained and have reached their birthday before September 1 for the appropriate age level are eligible for enrollment.

Daily calendar, Jesus Time and prayer

Balanced approach to reading instruction including Intensive Phonics,Big Books, emergent readers, chart poetry, picture books, reading and writing centers, Book Buddies program

Hands-on math and science curriculum

Bi-weekly art, music and gym classes

Weekly chapel worship, Spanish, library and computer activities

Field trips, theme days

Full Day

Half-day program plus:

Lunch – either our hot lunch program or bring your own

Learning center instruction including: math, science, reading,writing, art

Adventure in Art – exploring art through literature

Time for individual and small group instruction

Large motor skill activities

Large group projects
