Music Ministry
St. Francis said it best: “He who sings, prays twice.” If you love music and want to serve our Lord with your gifts, enjoy great fellowship, and grow in faith through Christian service, there’s a place for you in music & worship ministries at Redeemer! Please contact Tim Graf, if you are interested or have any questions. See you in church! Redeemer is blessed to have a beautiful 4 octave set of Schulmerich Handbells and we are even more blessed to have a great group of ringers committed to enhancing our worship through their music making. Another great thing about the Handbell Choir is that it offers anyone the chance to make music, even if you can’t sing or play an instrument! If you love music and would like to join us, please contact Tim Graf at 952.473.1281 ext. 209. No experience is necessary. We practice on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary (September through May). We also have a need for substitute ringers- if you are interested in helping out on occasion and would like to be trained, please contact Tim Graf.
Redeemer’s adult choir gathers to join hearts and voices together in praise to God. We sing everything from Bach to the contemporary hymns and anthems of current church composers. If you are of high school age or older and you love to sing, then please consider joining us as we raise our voices in praise to our living, loving Lord. No prior experience is necessary- you are always welcome! We practice on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. in the Choir/School Music room from September through May. Please contact Tim Graf, if you are interested or have any questions. (Phone: 952.473.1281 ext. 209; e-mail: redeemermusicguy@gmail.com)
JoySound (Redeemer’s Praise Band ministry) provides musical leadership for the contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. Contemporary worship which is centered on God’s grace in Christ and reflects the spirit of our Lutheran heritage while still singing “a new song” to God is what we’re all about. JoySound rehearses on Wednesday evenings (singers) and on Sunday mornings between services (full band). If you’re interested in participating, please contact Tim Graf to arrange for an audition.
"You are the salt of the earth...let your light shine before others"
(Matthew 5:13,16)
Saturday Evening Prayer & Praise, Redeemer’s blended worship service, was started in the fall of 2005. Salt of the Earth provides “flavorful” worship leadership for non-communion Saturdays (2 nd & 4 th Saturdays of the month). This group enjoys singing everything from folk hymns and contemporary praise songs to classic hymns of the faith. We meet for rehearsal at 4:00 p.m. on the 2 nd and 4 th Saturdays of the month and then lead worship together at 5:00 p.m. Please contact Tim Graf to get involved. All Redeemer Church and Day School children (Grades 2-6) are invited and encouraged to participate in the Kids’ Praise Choir. The choir meets on Tuesdays from 2:50 to 3:30 p.m. (September through May) in the Music Room. The kids come together to learn some great music, enjoy a snack, pray together and sing uplifting songs of praise to God. KPC sings at school and church events throughout the school year. There is no fee to participate.
If you love singing but find that your schedule doesn’t allow for a regular commitment to our church choir or JoySound, then Festival Choir is for you! The Festival Choir is made up of our Deo Gloria Choir members, JoySound’s singers, and anyone else who wants to join us. Redeemer’s Festival Choir sings for our annual Christmas Cantata Sunday in December, for Christmas Eve 5 p.m. worship, and for Holy Week and Easter services. Rehearsals begin in mid-November for the Christmas season and 3-4 weeks before Holy Week in the spring. Come and join us!
If you play an instrument and would like to be involved in worship music, please contact Tim Graf. There are opportunities both in JoySound (contemporary) and outside of any ensembles to play for God’s glory: preludes, hymn accompaniment, choir accompaniment, musical offerings, Cantata Sunday chamber orchestra, etc. There’s a place at Redeemer for you to use and grow your skills in service to God and God’s people!
